Venom

Shot entirely on location in Prague, 'Venom' is a darkly gothic tale of loss and revenge and is a huge departure for an Irish short film.

Angela Gannon is an elderly widow who has a hatred for all things creepy after her cat was killed after being stung by a bee. She is sadistic and relentless in her torture of flying and crawling insects. She eventually falls foul of the insect world who extract their revenge by placing her in a sticky and frightening situation of her own.

This is a unique Irish short film currently doing the rounds at festivals. Director John Hayes and Director of Photography James Mather are well known collaborators in the advertising commercial industry. They do a wonderful job of realising Mark Tuthill´s original script.

Each shot has exquisite composition and the visual story telling alone could let this film finish its tale with just a musical score. There is a combination of live ‘creature’ and post production shots which work great.

Venom looks like it was a lot of fun to make and I wish the film well. For further information, visit Venom’s website where you can also catch the trailer.
