The Aerobie AeroPress

The AeroPress boasts that it creates "the World's Smoothest Richest Brew". I would have to agree.
The AeroPress is a device for brewing coffee. It was invented in 2005 by Alan Adler, the same guy who invented the Aerobie. It takes 30 seconds to make a coffee. I had seen this device mentioned every so often in Twitter feeds (#aeropress) or blog posts and I was always curious. All I ever read was good things about it and the coffee it made.
I was shopping on-line last week for my wife’s wedding anniversary gift. After adding her present the shopping cart I came across the AeroPress on the same site and out of pure selfishness I added it to the cart also.
After using this for a week I would highly recommend it. Coffee is not a chore to make like a French Press and the results are undeniably delicious.
The Process
The whole process is done using what looks like a giant syringe. You add a paper filter to a plastic cage and screw onto the bottom half of a plunger. Place this on-top of your favourite mug. Add a spoonful of coffee. Add water using measurements on side of plunger. Stir for 10 seconds. Now take the second half of the plunger and push it slowly down the first half for 20 seconds. This makes one expresso sized coffee. Top up the coffee in your mug with water for a long black or Americano and drink.
The Pros
- Reusable filter paper
- It takes 30 seconds
- It is very easy to clean
- Coffee tastes great
- It is portable, so you can take it on holidays
- No bitterness

Our 1 year anniversary is next month. To go along with the tradition of paper, I had professional pin ups done. There’s a photographer in Philly who had very tasteful portraits in traditional pin up girl poses. My husband is deployed right now (and won’t be home for our anniversary, so it’s not a big deal) and the photos won’t be ready by our anniversary, or before he comes home.

I agree as well
Leslie suggested it a few months ago for me. I figured for the 25$ I would give it a shot. Definitely makes a smooth cup of coffee. I love adding warm milk to the espresso that is made and having a latte. Good stuff. And it cleans up so easy!
