Ringtones for your iPhone

Ever wondered how to create a ringtone for your iPhone. While they are available on the iTunes store, it is virtualy impossible to find tracks you woud actually use as ringtones.

If you own a Mac with GarageBand a recent update allows you to export Ringtones for the iPhone. This following technique will work for PC users.

Find the track you want to convert to a ringtone.
Right Click and get the info for the track.

Choose Options. Select the start time and end time. Keep the time within 20 seconds or this will not work. Click OK.

Right Click on your 20 second track and choose Convert selection to AAC

Now browse to your iTunes Music folder and drag the new track to your desktop

You can now safely delete the mini track you just made

Right Click to rename the track file ending on your desktop to .m4r so trackname.m4a would become trackname.m4r

Double click the file and it will automatically be added to your ringtones in Tunes. Now sync your iPhone and you are done
