Adobe Photoshop Scripts

Until I recently came across a download of what seemed like an interesting script for Photoshop I had never explored this feature of Adobe products

So I did some research, found some links, gathered some explanations. This is your mini gateway for Adobe Photoshop Scripts.

About scripting (the official explanation)

Photoshop supports external automation through scripting. In Windows, you can use any scripting language that supports COM automation, such as Visual Basic. In Mac OS, you can use any language, such as AppleScript, that allows you to send Apple events. These languages are not cross-platform but can control multiple applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.

You can also use JavaScript on either platform. JavaScript support lets you write Photoshop scripts that run on either Windows or Mac OS. You must use external tools to edit and debug the scripts.

To run a script

Choose File > Scripts and then select the script from the list. The scripts list includes all the script files saved with a .js or .jsx extension and saved in the Photoshop CS2/Presets/Scripts folder.
To run a script saved in another location, choose File > Scripts > Browse and navigate to the script.
You can use the Edit » Keyboard Shortcuts [Ctrl+Alt+Shift+K] command to assign a keyboard shortcut to a script. Alternatively, you can also record scripts within actions and then assign a function key to the action.
